SMC Data Systems was established in 1980; and have been the trusted advisor to our clientele in managing their warehousing systems.  Our principal, Mr. Dani Kaplan, has a wealth of experience in this industry, and understands the importance of supply chain to a business and having the right technology to manage it.

In 1985, IBM invited Mr. Kaplan to attend a round table in Atlanta, with the main purpose of enhancing their software.  After meeting with their executives, Mr. Dani offered solutions to improve the IBM DMAS distribution software which were adopted by IBM.

In 1992, “3X/400 Information Management Magazine” published how we helped our client SFI printer and paper distributor grow their business from a $ 6 Million to $ 35 million Dollars withing 7 years, or about a 100% increase per year.  Read more…

Prior to establishing his own business, Mr. Kaplan worked at Mincron Consulting House, from 1977 to 1980, modifying IBM MAPIC Manufacturing software for one of their main clients, United Merchant Manufacturing, who specialized in manufacturing molds for custom jewelry. 

From 1967 to 1977, Mr. Kaplan worked at Crocill Curtains as a programmer, and during that time became the expert in Cobol programming in the company and wrote coding for such systems as the NCR 315 mainframe computer. 

In 1978, he graduated from SUNY, Empire College, with a B.S. in Computer Science.
